Herbaceous planting design rodgersia pinnata salvia geum

Contemporary barn conversion

After the stunning redevelopment of a farm building into a contemporary home, the client sought inspiration to fill the empty borders surrounding the property.

A dynamic and richly textured perennial scheme was designed to dance with the morning and afternoon light as it fell across the Devon landscape.

Tall grasses such as ’ Calamagrostris brachytricha and Molinia caerulea Karl Forster’ were chosen to help transition the building into the landscape. To complement these, robust herbaceous species like Anemone leveillei, Rodgersia pinnata, Salvia x sylvestris Dear Anja’ and Geum Totally Tangerine’ were chosen. Veronicastrum album, Heuchera villosa, and Eurybia x herveyi were selected for later flowering to create a dense, low-maintenance border.
