Contemporary barn conversion
A wrap-around design, featuring seasonal drifts of perennials, bulbs and grasses, softened this high-end barn conversion, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the surrounding area.
Giles both designed and planted out the garden beds that surround our large and newly converted modern barn. We weren’t entirely sure what we wanted — we did know what we didn’t want — and it needed to be both low maintenance and natural looking. We absolutely love the ‘prairie’ style garden that Giles designed, it sits perfectly with the surroundings, attracts wildlife and changes with the seasons.
Giles included spring bulbs for early colour, grasses and ever-changing drifts of perennials repeating throughout the scheme. We enjoy lovely colours & shapes from early spring through to very late autumn/winter and Giles specified some unusual plant varieties. The grasses and some architectural plants give winter interest. The planting scheme blends in beautifully with the natural areas of woodland & wildflower planting that are close by. The site is fairly open and elevated, we love that the grasses catch both the evening sunsets and the breeze throughout the seasons.
Giles was a delight to work with, easy going, hard working and very professional. He listened to our thoughts and with both expertise and creativity he designed a scheme that worked for us, for the site & for the type of property. We get so much enjoyment from the garden, both from inside and outside our home, thank you, Giles!
